What an outstanding workshop! A well designed and organised workshop explicitly teaching each phase of the sour dough making process. We got to try freshly baked sour dough and take home goodies to continue our sour dough baking journey. I now have the baking bug. Highly recommend participating in this workshop.
I have done Sourdough Bread Making classes at other places and this class was one of the best. We were taken into a working bakery and told we could ask any of the bakers walking around about any process that was going on in the bakery.
We had two tables of seven students with two bakers showing us through the process of making dough etc, they even baked a couple of loaves while we were in class so we could see that process as well. I've not previously been shown the baking process and this was an education in itself. All ingredients were measured out so make the class of quicker and we made dough from almost scratch (the starter was supplied), we made a new starter from an existing starter to take home and were giving 'here's one we made earlier' dough to shape. All of the dough was ready for baking once we got home and we were also given a loaf of freshly baked bread.
Take home items also included a tote bag with a bag of flour for the next batch, recipe cards and other items useful in the art of baking sourdough. And best of all, if you kill your starter, as a member of the Bread Social Alum, you can go back and get a new starter any time at no cost. Overall, it was a great class to attend.
